HAPPY BIRTHDAY GRANDMA!

Grandma Marge turned 93 on Sunday!
She looks so great!  I can't believe how spry and fun our Grandma is!  The 93 really doesn't seem to match her looks --or personality for that matter!
Bran gave her LOTS of hugs.  I hope she survived them all ; ).  He loves grandma!  He loves going into her room and getting a treat or two.  She always makes sure she has something for him.
Grandma really appreciated all the cards with warm wishes that she received.  It really made her happy.  She kept telling me what a nice day she had.

Aren't they so pretty!?!  This picture makes me so happy- two great ladies who are such an example to me and great role models for my kids.  Incredible women who bless my family!!

Happy Birthday Grandma!
We love you so much!
You are one great lady!

Prom 2012

Rae had a great weekend!  Prom on Saturday night and prom-y fun during the day with a big group of friends.  She went to Prom with her friend Brennen Robinson (and yes - we had a lot of Brannen/ Brennen complications when trying to call someone by name around here!  If you ever have twins - never name them BrEnnen and BrAnnen!  Good advice!)
Brennen came to pick Rae up in the morning and Brannen answered the door by flinging it open - and hollering-- "What do you want Brennen?!?"  Pretty funny.

This was the first of many pictures for the day!  I kept snapping them - and Reese said, "Mom I think Brennen is going to get very annoyed with you!"  I say it is a small price to pay to take the most awesome girl on the planet to the prom!!  : )
They met a big group of friends in Afton at the fun zone and were all split into groups to play The Amazing Race.  Each team had matching head bands, a bag of props, and a list of activities that would earn them points if they accomplished them.  They were also each given a camera to keep proof of their accomplishments.  Fun!!  Some great moms had put together a really fun day for them.
 They ran into my house a couple hours later - "Mom!  We need  . . . .  we need . . . . we need . . . . and we gotta hurry!"
Rae, Brannen, Brennen, and their team members Dillon Shumway and Makendra Ludwig.
They needed a group picture with someone under the age of 5 - see Brannen is helpful to have around sometimes!
Gotta catch a chicken and take a picture with it!
Brennen's "Rocky" picture - I keep teasing him that he was looking like Rocky.  They were running - it was a timed game and they had to hurry!
Heading out to swim in the stinky sulfer hot springs!  He he he.  It was worth a hundred points to retrieve the bobber from the middle!  Come on!  And no - I cannot seem to get the sulfer stink out of Rae's clothes or the towels that they used.  hmmmm. . . . .

It was a really fun game.  Some of the other tasks were -
* one of the boys needed to propose (with included bling ring) to someone over 60 (which I hear Brennen did to Martha's grandma - but she then wanted to go to prom with him!  ;)  )
*have a funeral for road-kill
*take a picture with all of you locked in a jail cell
*get a picture of one couple  handcuffed in the back of a police car
*both girls kissing a fish
*boys dressed in wig and girl stuff on main street holding a sign saying "honk if you think I'm cute"
They had a blast!  They don't know who won yet - mom's are still verifying the photographic evidence!

After the game the moms had lunch for everyone at the fun zone.  Rae and Brennen ran to our house again before that to get more cleaned up and less stinky : )
Naturally more pictures had to be taken.
So they spent the rest of the afternoon at the fun zone - watching a movie, playing wallyball, basketball, foozeball and just hanging around with all their friends.  Then they went and ate some dinner and then Rae was home to get all dressed up.  Brennen waited in Afton for her to get ready and then came and got her and took her to Bedford to visit with his family while he got ready.

Brennen hung out and made funny faces with the kids while Rae finished--
Rae is ready!  What a beauty!!
And Brennen? . . . .  well-- he's lookin . . . .  "one of these things is not like the other  . . . . "
Much better!!

They looked so great!
Now for the interesting photos!  I kept telling them to make funny faces and pose funny and Rae wasn't shy about it!!  Ha!!

They are really cute.  I had fun laughing at em.  And then they were off!
Here we come SVHS PROM!!  You better be ready!!

The PCH

Kelly and I took a great little trip this past weekend - just the two of us.   It was great fun and so darn beautiful!
We flew from Idaho Falls to Los Angeles and drove north up the Pacific Coast Highway to Monterey and returned the same way to fly home.
It was a great driving vacation.  I keep teasing Kelly that we are officially old - what an old person's trip!  We drove to see the scenery!!  Ha!  But we loved it - so yep - we're old.
Following are the most pictures of Kelly and I that I have ever put on this blog!  There is not a child in a one of them!! :  )  So proceed with caution --- senior citizen blog headed your way!

One of the spots that Kelly really wanted to see along the way was "Hearst Castle" a huge 169 room 65,000 square foot mansion that was built in the 1920's by newspaper man William Randolph Hearst.  It was amazing!  It is now a California state park and really quite something to see.
I really didn't know what to expect and wasn't that enthusiastic to see a big house, until we rounded a bend and I said - "What's that on the top of that mountain?'  Kelly said -"Hearst Castle!"  I suddenly started to realize the magnitude of the "big house".
You can't drive right to the mansion - you take a bus ride and tour from the main road.

Kelly's favorite spots at the castle were the pools.  The Neptune pool below - which you might recognize, it is pretty famous - and the Roman pool above that was crazy awesome.

View from one of the balconies to the ocean.

We also got to see a lot of Monetery while we were there and walk around Cannery Row.  Pretty cool.

Every turn in the road on the PCH has a view like this.  I couldn't believe it!  We stopped a lot!

One of the coolest places - the waterfall.  Just a beautiful cove with a waterfall falling into it.  There used to be a house on this spot in the 1920's - but just the foundation is left now.

Went for a walk on Malibu beach on our last night there.  It was fabulous.
